How To Avoid Buyer's Remorse Shopping The Sales

FIVE STYLIST TIPS TO AVOID BUYER’S REMORSE.

We’ve all been there. Caught up in the shiny objects, overwhelmed by choice and of course those ‘bargins’. End of Season, Click Frenzy, Black Friday and Boxing Day sales are all amazing times to be shopping and stretching your budget further. Here are 5 stylist tips to help you shop smarter and effectively and avoid buyer’s remorse!

01. ASSESS YOUR WARDROBE

Look into your wardrobe and asses what items may need replacing? Are there any items that you need for the year ahead or for any events/special occasions? Ask yourself, do you really need another stripe t-shirt to add to the collection of 45?

2. MAKE A LIST AND DO YOUR RESEARCH

Avoid buying unnecessary or ‘non-hardworking items’ by making a list and having a game plan! Either online or in store, just because you bought it on sale doesn't make it a wise purchase. Being specific will help avoid 'shiny' items and also allowing you to assess if it is a viable purchase and/or if you can find the best price for that item.

3. HAVE A BUDGET

Make a budget and stay within it. This is a great time of year to purchase investment pieces, designer items, wardrobe staples or that piece you 'can't stop thinking about'. Though also you don't need to break the bank over Boxing Day sales.

4. ALL IN THE DETAILS

Know your baseline measurements and check each brand or retailer's size guide for fitting reference. Check the returns or exchange policy for each brand to ensure you have flexibility with the item if the fit isn't right.

5. RULE OF FOUR

Before heading to check out, make sure the item can be worn a minimum of four different ways or occassions in your wardrobe/lifestyle. Outfits can be created either with other new pieces you're purchasing or existing wardrobe items.
